Concha Barrios started in the art world forty years ago. She opened her first gallery in Claudio Coello Street, Madrid, in 1977, specializing in Old Masters and 19th c. Paintings, fields where she has been able to delve into the authorship and authenticity of the works, contributing to the enrichment of private and intitutional collections.
In 1994 she opened a new gallery in Naples under the name of Artemisia, associating with her husband, Claudio Brandi, a neapolitan antiques dealer specialised in Decorative Arts. From a prestigious dealers family with four generations of experience, Claudio Brandi has developed through the years a taste for excellence than can only be achieved through a continuous research for the best materials, the best aesthetic values and authentic author’s signatures.
For more than a decade Concha Barrios Gallery, without abandoning its specialty in Occidental Art, discovers new horizons with the introduction of Colonial Art and Oriental Art, which are related to the cultural exchange between Spain and its colonies.
Concha Barrios, tireless traveler to provide the best unprecedented pieces to her clients, combines her incessant activity as dealer throughout the world, with other works such as those carried out in the Antiques Dealers Association of Madrid, where she acted as Vice President and Chairperson.
The Gallery has participated in some of the most important national and international fairs, such as TEFAF (Maastricht), TEFAF (Basel), BIENNALE INTERNAZIONALE DELL’ANTIQUARIATO (Milan), MOSTRA INTERNAZIONALE DELL’ANTIQUARIATO (Florence ), The SALON DU COLLECTIONNEUR (Paris), the IFAE (Palm Beach, Miami, USA), FERIARTE (Madrid) etc.
